Parents for Health
Helping children to have good eating habits and to be physically active helps them avoid serious illness in later life
Parents have a vital influence on the lifestyle habits of children. By helping children to have good eating habits and to be physically active, parents can help their children avoid serious illness in later life. Parents for Health is a new RedBranch initiative building a community of healthy parents within the UK & Ireland. With a little help from RedBranch, every parent can promote health.
Parents for Health provides parents with:
- Expert advice
- Practical tips & resources
- A way to share solutions with other parents
- Regular reminders and inspirational messages delivered via social media
Behavioural change cannot be imposed from the top-down – Parents for Health helps and encourages parents to become part of the solution. The initiative builds on the work that RedBranch has carried out with parents since 2004.
Parents Sharing Ideas for Health
Promoting child health is not rocket science, and many of the common issues faced by parents have been solved by other parents.
Parents for Health uses social media to give parents a voice. Parents engage in a conversation about healthy lifestyle issues and solutions, mediated and guided by the RedBranch Health Promotion Team. This allows parents to share solutions and problems via Facebook and Twitter.
When parents become a “Parent for Health”, either by signing up for email updates or joining us on Facebook or Twitter, they receive regular targeted messages that help them to positively change their children’s lifestyle habits.
The initiative aims to get a simple message across:
Encouraging children to Eat Well & Be Active has a massive impact on lifelong health.
