Who We Are

David Egan: Founder & CEO

David is the Founder & CEO of RedBranch. His personal mission is to help people lead healthier lives. David is a Sport Scientist and parent of four children – prior to founding RedBranch, he was the Exercise Physiologist at the Irish elite athlete support unit, the NCTC.

He first became aware of poor lifestyle in children after delivering a series of voluntary workshops in schools. This placed his work with athletes in stark perspective and prompted the foundation of RedBranch.

David was awarded an Ashoka Fellowship for social entrepreneurship in 2009, and his work was recognised by Social Entrepreneurs Ireland in 2007 – for more information on David, see his personal blog.

Jadwiga O’Brien: Health Promotion Manager

Jadwiga is responsible for research and development in support of Parents for Health and RedBranch school projects. Jadwiga also manages a growing network of RedBranch health promotion volunteers. An enthusiastic member of the team, she excels at translating academic information into plain language. Jadwiga’s eye for detail and slightly obsessive nature helps to keep the rest of the team on their toes – her determination and strong work ethic are invaluable when a deadline looms.

Jadwiga has an MSc in Health Promotion from the National University of Ireland, Galway and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Association for Health Promotion, Ireland.

Elaine Egan: Content Manager

Elaine co-ordinates RedBranch content development, as well as managing the Parents for Health Facebook page and managing the RedBranch office. As a working mother of four, Elaine feels that the hardest career she ever had was being a stay-at-home mum. She fully understands the pressures that are facing parents today and the constant juggling needed to organise family life.

Prior to working for RedBranch, Elaine had ten years experience working for an Environmental Health Department in a London Borough. She spent most of her time negotiating between warring neighbours – the conflict resolution skills she learned at work have often come in handy when dealing with her own children.
